
30 Day No TV Challenge
Our family was in a bad habit of watching too much TV. It was out of convenience. It was an easy way to distract the kids and a cheap source of entertainment for us. There is nothing wrong with TV, but we were not using it in a way that brought value to our lives. We needed to take a break from TV to create space for something better.
Why commit to a 30 Day No TV Challenge?
The number one reason to commit to this challenge is TIME! The time we have with our kids is limited. It’s our job to fill it with the best things, and we have found that there are so many better uses of our time than in front of a screen.
Beyond that, we've recognized that our family's screen time habits can lead to unintended consequences. Excessive TV watching can seep into our daily lives, affecting our physical and mental well-being, as well as our relationships. Here are some of the potential effects to excessive screen time:
Promotes a Sedentary Lifestyle: The ease of sinking into the couch for hours has led to a more sedentary lifestyle for our family, and especially our kids. This can have long-term health implications.
Can poorly Impact our Mental Health: Screens have the power to impact our mental well-being. Prolonged screen time can lead to decreased productivity, motivation, and even feelings of anxiety.
